Relaxation Tip of the Week
Take Care of Your Body
Take deep, slow breaths frequently,
especially while on the phone, in the car, or waiting for something or someone. Use any
opportunity to relax and revitalize yourself.
I had minor surgery on my foot last week, and I found it to be a fascinating
experience. I know that some people are squeamish about such things, so I won't go
into details. (My foot is doing fine, by the way.)
But what I do want to say is that the experience was a vivid reminder to me of how
fundamentally important one's body is.
Your body is truly your servant here on planet Earth. Our bodies are the
"vehicles" through which each of us realizes our dreams and destiny in our
lifetimes.
This experience has led me to a renewed appreciation of my body -- in all its aspects.
As I go through the recovery process with my foot, I marvel at my body's
ability to heal itself.
And I take time to literally "thank my body."
You might want to consider doing the same thing. (Think about it -- where would
you be without your body?)
To help in this process, take a moment and listen to Track 7 "Inner
Space" from Joel Levey's Self-Guided Relaxation CD. Let
Joel's soothing voice gently guide you through a process of scanning your body and
releasing tension. Click on either link below to listen now. It takes only 4
minutes.
"This body is not a home but an inn, and that
only briefly." -- Seneca, Epistulae ad Lucilium
"If any thing is sacred, the human body is
sacred." -- Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass
