When people hear the term "self-guided," the meaning that usually comes to
mind refers to taking a tour -- for example, through a museum or a city -- with the aid of
printed or audio instructions. Instead of following a tour guide, you choose your
own route that meets your interests and needs at the time.
That's the same basic concept behind our Self-Guided® compact discs. Joel
Levey's Self-Guided Relaxation CD is designed so that it's easy for you
to choose the content and sequence of a relaxation guided imagery session. You
can use the 30 different tracks on the CD to:
Listen to one of three 20-minutes sessions that are already set up on the CD
Take a quick relaxation break by playing one or two favorite tracks
Program your CD player to create your own custom relaxation session
For example, one of my favorite tracks on the CD is Track 3 ("Magical
Moments") in which Joel reminds of what is possible in our lives. Click on either
link below to listen to this 2-minute track, and as you do, imagine how you might use
this inspirational message at the beginning, middle, or end of a custom relaxation
session.
For me, "Self-Guided" has additional
layers of meaning. It's a shortened version of "self-help guided imagery." The
name also implies "empowerment" in the sense that you are in control of what you
listen to ... and what you do with your life.
Best wishes for success on your personal journey
to well-being.
"Ideals are like stars: you will not succeed in
touching them with your hands, but like the seafaring man on the desert of waters, you
choose them as your guides, and following them you reach your destiny." -- Carl Schurz
