Relaxation Tip of the Week
Stay in Touch with Yourself
"Become more aware of the demands you
place on yourself, your environment, and others to be different from how they are at any
moment. Demands are tremendous sources of stress."
(from Ten Strategies for
Mastering Stress, by Joel Levey and Michelle Levey)
Listen to Your Body
by Bryan Brewer, Producer, Self-Guided.com
Think about it -- Without your body,
where would you be?
Your body is a marvelous creation of flesh and bone and spirit that enables you to live
here on planet Earth and manifest your intention for your life.
And one of the secrets of the body is that it has messages for you on
several levels -- if you pay attention.
Obviously, you can listen to the real sounds your body makes (such as a gurgling
stomach that might mean you're hungry). You can also "listen" to aches and pains
that might be telling you to rest and recuperate. You can listen to the emotional signals,
too, like a warm feeling of love in your heart area or a feeling of fear in your abdomen.
One of the most practical ways to listen to your body is to scan for subtle
signs of stress, and then use a relaxation technique to release that stress
before it accumulates in your body. Use this approach to prevent the build up of stress
that can lead to painful and unproductive experiences.
Track 7 ("Inner Space") from the Self-Guided Relaxation CD provides
guided imagery to help you focus your awareness on your physical and mental states of
being, and release the stress from your body. Take just four minutes right now and
listen to this track by clicking on either link below:
"Before you agree to do anything that might add even
the smallest amount of stress to your life, ask yourself: What is my truest intention?
Give yourself time to let a yes resound within you. When it's right, I guarantee that your
entire body will feel it." -- Oprah Winfrey
