Summertime Relaxation
by Bryan Brewer, Producer, Self-Guided.com
Summer is a wonderful time for recreation,
rejuvenation, and relaxation. The warm weather just tends to slow things down
naturally, making it a great time to get out in nature and enjoy the season.
If you find yourself working indoors (as I am right now) and thinking about being
outside enjoying the nice weather (ditto), I have a suggestion. Use the time to do
some "constructive daydreaming" by using guided imagery.
Instead of simply fantasizing, use some guided imagery techniques to thoroughly immerse
yourself mentally in the desired experience. This approach can transform an idle daydream
into a sensory-rich inner experience.
One of the tracks on Joel Levey's Self-Guided Relaxation CD
-- "Mental Oasis" (track 25) -- will guide you in a short visualization of a
visit to a calm and relaxing place in nature. After you have done this a few times, it
will be easier to go there on your own whenever you feel the need to take a relaxation
break.
It only takes three minutes. Click on either link below to listen now:
