Relaxation Tip of the Week
Take Care of Your Body
"Take deep, slow breaths frequently,
especially while on the phone, in the car, or waiting for something or someone.Use any opportunity to relax and revitalize yourself."
(from Ten Strategies for
Mastering Stress, by Joel Levey and Michelle Levey)
Softening and Opening
by Bryan Brewer, Producer, Self-Guided.com
As most of us know, the stresses of modern
life can take a considerable toll, which is collected on both body and spirit.
Sometimes those stresses can manifest as a hardening or closing down of the heart and
mind.
When this happens to me, I find it helpful to turn to some reminders to relax and let
go, to soften and open myself to the natural flow of life. When I create those places,
those moments of relaxation, my mind quiets down, my body softens, and my heart reopens.
Taking a quick guided imagery break is a wonderful antidote to those stresses. You can
use the power of your mind/body system to find relief in only five minutes.
Track 7 ("Inner Space") from the Self-Guided Relaxation CD provides
guided imagery to help you soften and open, and release the stress from your body. Take
just five minutes right now and listen to this track by clicking on either link below:
This kind of reminder is helpful, but you have to
remember to use it -- to start your day with a calm intention, to relax at times
throughout the day when you feel stress building up, and to finish your day with soothing
thoughts for a good night's rest.
Find time this week to use guided imagery to strengthen your intentions and increase
your relaxation.
