Relaxation Tip of the Week
"Choose Relaxing Activities at Bedtime to Get Better Sleep"
"Our curious minds naturally want to know the latest news and how it might affect
us. Its a basic survival instinct. But its also important to get a good
nights rest, and watching TV news at night before bedtime can be detrimental
to the quality of your sleep. A better survival strategy is to catch up on the
news during the day, andin the evening focus on relaxing or mentally
uplifting activities. Instead of watching TV news at night, try listening to
music, reading a book, or watching a non-violent movie. You are likely to sleep better,
have more pleasant dreams, and awaken more refreshed and thus be better able to
cope with daily stress."

Getting a Good Night's Sleep
By Bryan Brewer, Producer, Self-Guided.com
A number of recent news stories are reporting a large increase in the number of
people having sleep problems related to the stress of the current war in Iraq.
The good news is that there are a number of things you can do to improve the quality
of your sleep. In their book Living in Balance, Joel and Michelle Levey give
several tips for improved sleep. Here is a summary of some of the main points:
Release stress during the day
Work with your natural sleep rhythms
Avoid bright lights for at least an hour before bedtime
Sleep in a quiet, dark room, with some fresh air at about sixty degrees
Avoid electric blankets
Establish a regular sleep schedule
Avoid alcohol before bedtime
Avoid caffeine for at least four hours before bedtime
Dont watch TV news before bedtime
Take time for prayer, meditation, or poetry reading before bedtime
In addition, Joel Leveys Self-Guided Sleep CD is available as a free bonus
with each order of his Self-Guided Relaxation CD (see below). The Free Sleep CD
contains two 30-minute tracks, one for taking a nap and the other for falling asleep at
night.
I hope that you will be able to find ways to improve the quality of your sleep in these
stressful times.

body, nourishment and refreshment."
